Originally published in 1933, this Halloween book features the following ideas and suggestions for planning and decorating for vintage Halloween celebrations: Fortune Versus, Halloween with Mickey Mouse, Spooky Bridge, Cat and Dog Party, Children’s Halloween Party, Games and Stunts, Feeding the Ghosts and Goblins.

Suggestions for decorations and favor making are scattered throughout the book including: how to decorate with pumpkins, ghosts, skeletons and black cats; chandelier decorations; making a devil by decorating a floor lamp with crepe paper; holiday snapper favor where you pull the ribbon ends and little party favors fall out; an interesting idea for a place card, hat and party favor all in one — when the ribbons are untied, a favor drops out and the “skirt” turns into a cap; ideas for making paper jewelry favors; pumpkin ghost; making a hanging witch head/hands using crepe, cutouts and wire; transforming a floor lamp into a witch.

From the late 1800s through the 1930s, Halloween parties geared toward adults were very popular. Beginning in 1909 and continuing through 1934, Dennison Manufacturing Company entered the Halloween party niche with their colorful party idea books called “Bogie Books.” Beginning in 1931, Dennison stopped calling their Halloween books “Bogie Books” and named them Halloween Suggestions, Halloween Parties and Halloween Book over the remaining publishing years.

The Halloween books were a great source for party planning, each year showing different ideas to match the new products being released by Dennison. They continue to be a great resource for party planning and provide interesting old-time party tips and suggestions.
